Is There a Difference Between a Broken File and Bad Data?

Hi everyone,

I am currently trying to help my child with a school project about digital storage, and it actually sparked a very interesting question about my own business operations.

When I’m reviewing my boutique’s shipping logs or inventory spreadsheets, I sometimes wonder if a system crash is caused by the file container itself being unreadable or just the numbers inside being scrambled.

To keep my brand’s “vibe” professional and established, I want to understand these technical distinctions better. Can someone explain the core differences in file corruption vs data corruption testing?

Thanks in advance.
